Ticks and Pets (Specific Types of Ticks?

Okay, this is a really weird question but I’m a paranoid person. I found a couple of ticks on my dog (nothing unusual, we live in South Jersey) And they were tiny and easily came off because we check her when she comes inside from pooping. The problem is that i dropped one so small that I can’t find it. I searched everywhere. I don’t mind if it’s on me because I will find it and if it goes back on my dog i’ll see it (she’s cream colored). The problem is I have two dark tabby cats that explore everywhere in my house. If the tick gets on them, the chances of me finding it on Charles is about 30% and 15% on Albert (he doesn’t like to be touched very much).

So the question is…If it enjoys a blood meal on one of my cats, will it just fall off? Or is it one of those ticks that burrow? Do cats contract Lyme’s Disease as often as dogs and humans? Can I buy a pack of special wipes to rub down my cats to avoid it attaching to them? Should I be worried, my cats are my babies and could not love a human baby as much as I love them?

The tick was: very small and flat like if you weren’t looking closely, it could be mistaken for a freckle. It was light brown and resides in weather between 28 and 55 degrees F in the heavily wooded areas of southern New Jersey.

A few warm days and I have already found a tick crawling on the bed because of my cat. He goes outside and there is no way of keeping him in once the warm weather comes..Last year we had a huge problem with the ticks being all over the bed and carpet. I put front line on him and that prevented the ticks from biting the cat, they would just crawl on him and find their way onto the bed or me..I have put sprays to spray on the carpet, that seemed to help a little..I am afraid im going to get Lyme’s disease if this continues, does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep the ticks off the cat completely??
We live in apartment so it would be hard to treat the surronding areas outside.. It is just to large of an area.

what made my cat so sick?

My cat is 10 years old. She is an inside cat who got out and has been sick ever since. she has pretty much stopped eating and has lost a lot of weight. I took her to the vet and they ran a full blood board on her. She was tested for all the major cat diseases and everything came back good. The vet kept her for 3 days and 2 nights. When we picked her up the vet said she really didn’t know what was wrong with her and gave her an antibiotic, an appetite stimulant, and something for her fever. She has been home and on the meds now for almost 2 weeks with no improvement. She is not gaining any weight and is completely inactive. She just lays in the same spot all the time. I don’t know what could be wrong. Could she have eaten something outside that made her this sick? Could it be Lyme’s disease from a tick? I need some help! I called the vet today and told her there has been no progress and she said to stop the antibiotic and continue the appetite stimulant but I think she needs more help than that. I feel I should be able to bring her back in to the vet without additional fees. I already paid the vet several hundreds and my cat is no better than the day I brought her in. If you have any ideas or advice please let me know. I can’t loose my Sushi. She’s such a big part of my family. Thx

cat, seizures?

My cat recently had a seizure. I immediately took the cat to the vet, and my cat had bloodwork done. The cost was 5.00. The vet called me a few days later to report that the cat was border line lyme disease and needed further blood tests done for comfirmation. Today I took the cat in and was charged another 5.00. Is this a normal rate?
thanks so much guys!
