My kitty has fleas, and about a week ago I used this shampoo on her. I just gave her another bath today because she showed little to no signs of improvement. Unfortunately I started reading some absolutely horrific reviews on this brand of shampoo that resulted in numerous cases of the cat’s death, and though it says to use once every two weeks I gave her two in one week. I am horribly concerned about this.

What do I do? Is she fine, or should I be looking for symptoms that I should take her to the vet?
Well I went to the vet about a month ago, and he gave my cat a shot that would sterilize fleas when they bite her for about six months and some Advantix that would last the month. But the thing is that I’m working with about six dogs, and they’ve had an ongoing epic flea battle. I’m afraid that I keep bringing fleas back home with me.

I’ll check out Advantix. Thanks for the suggestion.

We have a multi-cat household. We applied Advantage for cats as advertised on all. Everyone was fine except for one, who appeared depressed. The next morning she went into convulsions & was foaming at the mouth. I went to one of the pet web sites that sells Advantage for cats & listed reversible neurological signs which included foaming at the mouth & twitching as a rare side affect. Sounds just like out kitty (who appears fine now).

Anyone know of a good alternative for a proven, sensitive kitty?

This product was bought from a reputable source (no from Ebay, etc.), and applied as directed.

For anyone who’s cat experiences the same thing, the vet just had us keep her in a cool room since the convulsions can raise their temp dangerously high…she was pretty much over it once we knew there was a problem & called the vet. Normally though, if noticed early, the vet can give some medicines to control the symptoms.

Thanks!
PS – This is a strictly indoor kitty, if that matters.

help! tick eggs in my house?

I picked up what looked like a brown piece of corn and i have no idea now if it was a huge dead tick that fell off or a piece of corn! its stuck in between the cracks in the porch. I can take it out later and look at it to make sure. It seriously looked like a huge tick though! My neighbor cat came in here a couple times and she has ticks all over I noticed the other day and I threw her out. Now I’m creeping out and am wondering if there are eggs in my house and where the heck they could be!? I vaccum everyday but I have no idea even where to begin looking for those eggs. But I have no idea if it even was a dead tick or a piece of dried brown corn?? gosh… i hope someone can help me. Now im paranoid about having lots of baby ticks in my house! Darn those neighbors and not getting frontline for their outdoor cat! It’s owner was here just the other day (they are on vacation) and he didnt even bother taking the poor cats ticks off! makes me angry and sad for that poor cat!
Another question…now that I know it was a dead tick… does a tick lay eggs ON the cat and then fall off? or fall off and then lay eggs somewhere? I DO plan on cleaning my house from ceiling to floor and get every corner I can..starting tomorrow!

how long does it take for eggs to hatch?
Oh and about my neighbors…They are nice people they are no doubt about that but they got a cat for all the wrong reasons. Their kids wanted a cat and now they aren’t getting their outdoor cat fixed because their kids want kittens! We got our cats fixed and they are indoor cats and we even got frontline for them for their occasional "escapes" ..darn kitties. I really wish they would get their cat frontline at least! i can’t imagine what their house must look like and if they have eggs in there too?
We our kitty sitting the cat while the owners are away on vacation and my husband was kind enough and pulled lots of ticks off that poor cat! and now i find a dead tick inside my house? i have no idea what to think about it or what to do besides clean my house. I just hope there are no eggs in my house =(

I have a horse and the stables where I board her at has 4 barn cats. I’ve been finding a lot of ticks on them lately. Today I found a tick on my favorite kitty before it could latch on to his skin and I broke him in half! but anyway, I was just wondering if there was such a thing as tick season.

I gave my three cats a Frontline Plus treatment around November 5th. One of them lives mostly on the main level of my home while the other two sleep in my finished basement (they are littermates). I’ve had to keep them separated because of the fleas. My two basement babies seem to have them worse so until I get rid of the fleas, I can’t let them upstairs. Anyway, I was wondering if anybody knows whether or not I can go ahead with another Frontline Plus treatment for my basement babies since it hasn’t quite been 30 days since their last treatment? They are 16 months old if that makes any difference and they are very healthy. I went to my basement tonight to feed them and had on white socks and noticed the fleas jumping all over my feet. We vacuum down there every 3 or so days, but it looks like we need to pick that up and start vacuuming every other day. I also gave my upstairs kitty the Frontline Plus treatment on November 5th and it seems that we’ve almost gotten rid of the fleas on him and on the main level of my home, so we’ll be concentrating on the basement. I figured getting rid of the fleas in the basement would be alot harder since there are two cats. Anyway, if anybody can let me know if it’s ok to go ahead & apply the Frontline even if it hasn’t yet been 30 days since the last treatment, I’d appreciate it. Thank you!
