I have to female cats. They will be a year in April. I am going to get them sprayed, but also thinking about getting them declawed, esp. since they are indoor cats. Also, they love climbing my walls, literally!! The sound is worse then the chalkboard…UGH!! But I dont want to keep putting them under for surgery, so I decided to do it all at once. I am wondering if there were any advantages/disadvantages to getting them declawed? Will they be affected emotionally?

Is Advantage really necessary for indoor cats?

Is the Advantage flea treatment really necessary for indoor cats? It’s expensive, so I don’t want to buy it if there is very little chance that my cats will catch fleas. Maybe I should wait until flea actually becomes a problem before I start using Advantage?

Can I re-shampoo my cats with flea shampoo?

I gave my cats a flea bath probably a week ago and they still have fleas on them. The shampoo says to use it once a month and that it isn’t necessary to re-shampoo unless they’re "excessively dirty". They’re clean, they just still have fleas? I am using Sergeant’s Gold flea and tick shampoo for cats & kittens. I don’t want to harm them by doing it again so soon since there are many precautions you have to take just to put it on them.

They’re both indoor cats only for the last 5 months, they’re only 6 months old. We don’t have a flea problem that I know of. Kind of weird.

Both my cats are indoor cats and they have fleas. I got some Advantage from my vet today and put it on both cats. They say it’s supposed to kill fleas within 12 hours. Well, it’s been five hours so far and my older cat is going nuts. He can’t sit still. I check his fur and I still see the fleas running around in there. How long does it take to work and does it really work? I did catch one flea on him and killed it. It wasn’t hard to catch and usually they’re very fast. Does that mean it’s working? I need some reassurance because I don’t like to see my animals suffer and this stuff is expensive.
Thanks for all your info. I’ve been watching him for hours now. Alot of the fleas are dead. I did get a comb and combed through his fur and through the dead fleas into alcohol to make sure that they were dead. He has finally calmed down and is sleeping. He must be exhausted. I also put Advantage on my other cat, but I didn’t find any fleas on her, so my house can’t be infested. But I will buy the 20-MuleTeam Borax. A co-worker also told me about that. Thanks. I’m just so happy he’s calmed down now.

help! tick eggs in my house?

I picked up what looked like a brown piece of corn and i have no idea now if it was a huge dead tick that fell off or a piece of corn! its stuck in between the cracks in the porch. I can take it out later and look at it to make sure. It seriously looked like a huge tick though! My neighbor cat came in here a couple times and she has ticks all over I noticed the other day and I threw her out. Now I’m creeping out and am wondering if there are eggs in my house and where the heck they could be!? I vaccum everyday but I have no idea even where to begin looking for those eggs. But I have no idea if it even was a dead tick or a piece of dried brown corn?? gosh… i hope someone can help me. Now im paranoid about having lots of baby ticks in my house! Darn those neighbors and not getting frontline for their outdoor cat! It’s owner was here just the other day (they are on vacation) and he didnt even bother taking the poor cats ticks off! makes me angry and sad for that poor cat!
Another question…now that I know it was a dead tick… does a tick lay eggs ON the cat and then fall off? or fall off and then lay eggs somewhere? I DO plan on cleaning my house from ceiling to floor and get every corner I can..starting tomorrow!

how long does it take for eggs to hatch?
Oh and about my neighbors…They are nice people they are no doubt about that but they got a cat for all the wrong reasons. Their kids wanted a cat and now they aren’t getting their outdoor cat fixed because their kids want kittens! We got our cats fixed and they are indoor cats and we even got frontline for them for their occasional "escapes" ..darn kitties. I really wish they would get their cat frontline at least! i can’t imagine what their house must look like and if they have eggs in there too?
We our kitty sitting the cat while the owners are away on vacation and my husband was kind enough and pulled lots of ticks off that poor cat! and now i find a dead tick inside my house? i have no idea what to think about it or what to do besides clean my house. I just hope there are no eggs in my house =(
