Last night, I noticed a tiny bump in her fur while I was petting her fur. I dug out a tick. YIKES!! After a thorough exam, I found one more on her back, one on one of her nipples and three around her butt. I got them all off and killed them. I put some flea/tick stuff by Seargent on the back of her neck. What else should I be doing? A flea bath or something? Also, she is shedding more than usual. What’s up with that?

I just got my first cat; his name is Duke and I love him dearly. I need to get him on a flea treatment. I know the topical skin treatments work well, but will the Frontline spray treatment penetrate his fur well enough to repel and kill fleas and ticks. I ask this because I’m trying to be economical, and it looks as if I would save an astronomical amount of money if I used the spray.

Give me your knowledge, cat owners.

Both my cats are indoor cats and they have fleas. I got some Advantage from my vet today and put it on both cats. They say it’s supposed to kill fleas within 12 hours. Well, it’s been five hours so far and my older cat is going nuts. He can’t sit still. I check his fur and I still see the fleas running around in there. How long does it take to work and does it really work? I did catch one flea on him and killed it. It wasn’t hard to catch and usually they’re very fast. Does that mean it’s working? I need some reassurance because I don’t like to see my animals suffer and this stuff is expensive.
Thanks for all your info. I’ve been watching him for hours now. Alot of the fleas are dead. I did get a comb and combed through his fur and through the dead fleas into alcohol to make sure that they were dead. He has finally calmed down and is sleeping. He must be exhausted. I also put Advantage on my other cat, but I didn’t find any fleas on her, so my house can’t be infested. But I will buy the 20-MuleTeam Borax. A co-worker also told me about that. Thanks. I’m just so happy he’s calmed down now.

How can I get this tick off my cat?

My poor cat has this ugly deer tick smack dab on the middle of his forehead. I tired putting nail polish on it to make it come out. And I tried ripping it out with tweezers (which I’d rather not do because I don’t want him to get the head stuck in him) but all I got was chunk or fur. And he got sore with me and won’t let me touch him now. Any suggestions are more than welcome!

I treated my cat with Advantage flea medicine on his neck/head area and it has been about 30-45 minutes and this flaky white stuff is in his fur in that spot now which looks like dandruff. He has itched the spot so its not something he did. Could it be a side effect? Have any of you used the Advantage for cats? How well does it work?
Thanks,
Jamie
